The Faroe Islands can be driven in two hours. Fjordcottage is almost perfectly halfway. The ‚metropolitan’ capital of Torshavn (13,000 inhabitants) is 45 minutes away by car. A half an hour drive to Vestmanna, from where tourist boats depart for an amazing cruise to the incredible cliffs inhabited by thousands of seabirds. The beginning of the Slaettaratindur trail – a path the highest peak of the Faroe Islands – is 20 minutes away. Simply: it’s the dream location.

There is an excellent cottage with two bedrooms on the first floor (and a sofa next to the stairs if a larger family come). A kitchen and bathroom we can find on the ground floor. Next to a cottage, there is a family home with a large living room and kitchen adapted to manage cooking workshops.

Sabina Poulsen, the owner and proprietress of Fjordcottage, is not a typical Faroese housewife, spending time knitting woollen sweaters and looking after sheep. She was born and raised in the thrifty Wielkopolska, so the house shines with cleanness. But her passions are quite unusual – climbing, mountaineering and cooking Faroese dishes. By profession, Sabina is a teacher and a babysitter in a kindergarten.
